Book launch: Alone, Together – short stories set in lockdown

Thanks so much for coming!

Alone, Together is my new collection of short stories written during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Each story follows a different character through a moment of their lockdown experience. There’s lots to relate to and recognise – and a few surprises along the way.

I’d like to share a short reading from one of the stories in the collection. ‘Blood and Taxidermy’ explores the relationship between a timorous nephew and his fearsome Aunt Margaret…

The Alone, Together collection of stories is available from Amazon or Waterstones, at just £5.99.

Writing and reading stories helps me to think things through, explore ideas and find points of connection and recognition. Naturally, the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic led to lots of writing. The challenge was finding the space – both external and internal – to write with the rest of the family all working from home, too.

I write first drafts by hand, redrafting as I type things up, then going through them again and again with a red pen. Luckily my stationery addiction meant I’d stocked up on ink cartridges before lockdown. I got through more than thirty in the process of writing the stories in Alone, Together!

Thanks so much for coming to my virtual launch! If you do buy Alone, Together, a huge thank you to you.

Special thanks to Elsa Lewis of Lioness Books for your faithfulness and encouragement, to Isobel Peaty for the empathy, humour and wisdom, and to my family and neighbours for being great lockdown company.

With love, Liz Jennings
